ZAGREB, May 4 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Tuesday
evening received Secretary of State at the British Foreign Office
Douglas Hogg.
The talks focused on the UNPAs and the continuation of Serb
occupation of these areas despite normalisation agreements, said
the president's office in a statement, adding that the Washington
Agreement on the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina had also been
discussed.
Hogg said after the talks that the possibility of outside
influence leading to the resolution of the UNPA problem had not
been discussed. He stressed that the London Conference remained the
most efficient mechanism for reaching a solution.
Hogg visited Sarajevo on Tuesday morning, where he met with
Bosnian Premier Haris Silajdzic.
Commenting on talks with Silajdzic, Hogg said the Bosnian
Premier had shown a high degree of understanding for the need for
compromise. Speaking of a possible "loose association" between the
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Bosnian Serbs, Silajdzic
stressed the need for preserving the external borders of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Hogg said.
Hogg is expected to meet with Serbian President Milosevic and
Bosnian Serb leader Karadzic in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss
"Serbian reactions to the contact group in Bosnia-Herzegovina" and
the way to reach a cessation of hostilities.
