RECONSTRUCTION WORKS ON PERUCA DAM RESUME

SINJ, Apr 6 (Hina) - Reconstruction works on the dam of the Peruca hydroelectric power plant resumed on Wednesday, said Marin Vilovic, head of an expert team appointed by the Croatian Electric Utility to supervise the reconstruction. The dam was seriously damaged in January 1993, when Serb guerrillas stationed in UN Sector South forced UN peace keepers to leave the dam and then mined it. Reconstruction works started on February 15, 1994, but were interrupted after a few days due to Serb mortar attacks. "Now that the Serb artillery has been pulled out to a safe distance, in accordance with the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities of Jan 29, the works will be continued," Vilovic said.
