ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - Croatian Premier Nikica Valentic received
Hungarian Foreign Minister Geza Jeszenszky this afternoon, who
arrived today in a one-day official visit to Croatia.
Valentic emphasized the importance of the Croat-Muslim accord
on establishment of a Croat-Bosniac federation and spoke on
principles of a confederation with Croatia. Valentic particularly
stressed that Croatia had all the guarantees that its borders will
remain unchanged. Valentic further said full attention needed to be
paid to the improvement of the economic cooperation between the two
countries, saying that a tax-free zone for Hungary could be opened
in the port of Rijeka. He also stressed the importance of a better
road and railway connection between the two countries.
Jeszenszky welcomed the Washington agreement between the
Croats and Muslims and handed to Valentic two draft agreements - on
preventing double taxation and on protection of investments, which
would be the basis for a future successful economic cooperation.
Jeszenszky said that the establishment of a tax-free zone in the
port of Rijeka would represent an open door for the Hungarian
economy to international waters.
Valentic gave to Jeszenszky an invitation for the Hungarian
Prime Minister to visit Croatia.
