NEWS No 2 01:49 PM SESSION OF PRESIDENTIAL NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The Presidential Council of Defence and National Security held its 38th session in Zagreb on Wednesday under presiding of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. The Council discussed current political situation regarding forthcoming visit of President Tudjman and Croatian delegation to the United States, meeting with U.S. President Clinton and signing the agreement on federation between Croats and Bosniac-Muslim side in Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as on principles of the agreement on confederation with the Republic of Croatia, said the statement by President's Office. GENERAL DE LAPRESLE ASSUMES COMMAND OF UNPROFOR ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - French General Bertrand Guillaume de Lapresle assumed officially command of the U.N. Protection Forces (UNPROFOR). General de Lapresle took over the command from General Jean Cot, who was the UNPROFOR Force Commander in the former Yugoslavia for over eight months. ICRC CONVOY REACHES KONJIC ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) sent its first convoy from Split (southern Croatia) to the town of Konjic (northern Herzegovina) on Tuesday, according to today's statement of the ICRC office in Zagreb. The 8 truck-ICRC convoy was able to deliver 80 MT of relief supplies to some 5,000 beneficiaries in Konjic. According to the same statement, Konjic was cut off owing to the fighting and the ICRC could not dispatch humanitarian aid there since May 1993. The ICRC delivered 1,950 MT of relief supplies last week throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina and the UNPAs in Croatia from the ICRC three main warehouses in Zagreb, Belgrade and Split, said the same source.
