ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The representatives of Autonomous Region of
Western Bosnia and the Bosnian Serbs has agreed on Wednesday to
establish cease fire in the Bihac region, said today at press
conference in Zagreb Western Bosnian official Bozidar Sicel.
Cessation of hostilities would became effective on Friday at noon.
Sicel said that significant number of soldiers from the both
sides was killed in last few days during Serb attack on the Bihac
region. This part of northwest Bosnia is defended by Fifth Corps of
Bosnian Army and one HVO brigade. According to Sicel, many
civilians were killed in Bihac as well and more than 1,000
artillery shells were launched on the city. He said that situation
in Bihac was very difficult and city almost fell.
Answering the question why a representative of the Bosnian
Army as warring faction did not participate at the negotiations,
Sicel said that Serbs refused such possibility.
