LIVNO, Feb 8 (Hina) - Minister in the Herzeg-Bosnian Government
Mile Akmadzic told today's session of the Herzeg-Bosnian House of
Representatives that the Croatian people in Bosnia-Herzegovina were
entitled to 17.5 percent of Bosnian territory. He said that the
"Croats and Moslems did not disagree over territorial issues but
over the future arrangement of Bosnia-Herzegovina." He said that
the congress of Bosnian Croats held in Sarajevo on Feb 6 was not
legitimate, as the only legitimate representatives of the Croatian
people of Bosnia-Herzegovina were now gathered in Livno.
Member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) steering
committee Ivan Milas said the HDZ was the only true force able to
achieve freedom for the Croatian people, wherever they lived.
Leader of the Croatian Social Liberal Party Drazen Budisa
said: "Coming here, we hoped to see a new platform for Bosnian
Croats and not reaffirmation of the existing political views. It is
of paramount importance for the Croats to preserve and strengthen
the Croatian state within its present borders as well as the
existence of the Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina. We can achieve this
only if we pull ourselves out of the grip of the Milosevic regime."
Interrupted by catcalls, Budisa asked the meeting to consider
whether a union of three republics would be a good foundation for
the unity of all Croats as it would be very hard to reach a
compromise with the Moslems by defending the idea of division.
