MACHINE-GUNNING KILLER SLAYS TWO AND SELF IN MOSTAR

MOSTAR, May 30 (Hina/Habena) - Two people were shot dead and four were wounded in Mostar when a middle-aged man, armed with a machine-gun, ran amok and started randomly shooting at people, cars and houses. Two of the victims - one killed woman and one seriously wounded man - are Spanish subjects, members of the "Medecins Sans Frontieres" humanitarian organisation. The perpetrator is one Ilija Mikulic, aged 41, temporarily residing in Mostar. According to the Herzeg-Bosnian interior ministry, the perpetrator committed the killings while of unsound mind. The mayhem began when Mikulic opened fire at Stanko Sunjic, who was driving a passenger car, and shot him dead. The perpetrator then walked down the street, shooting at houses as he went. When he reached the seat of the "Medecins Sans Frontieres", Mikulic came in, shooting all the while. He wounded Dr. Fernandez and killed Dr. Mercedes Navarro, who had tried to escape through a balcony. Mikulic then strode to the entrance of a nearby family house and spotted Mirko Milicevic standing on the doorstep. He shot at him, but failed and Milicevic disappeared into the house. The killer then entered the house through the back entrance and fired through the bathroom door, which was closed and bolted. This time, he managed to wound Mirko and Goran Milicevic. The killer then set off for home, shooting at nearby houses and passers-by, seriously wounding Renata Buntic from Mostar. When he reached the yard of his temporary lodgings, Mikulic committed suicide. Due to the deteriorating security situation in Mostar, the police ordered all catering and entertainment establishements to close at 9 p.m. (hina) jn as 301851 MET may 95
