SARAJEVO, May 22 (Hina) - Three Sarajevans were killed in Serb
mortar and sniper attacks on the Bosnian capital this morning.
Two civilians died in the explosion of a mortar round that hit
the northern central part of Sarajevo at about 10:00 am, Bosnian
Army 1st corps press office reported on Monday.
Another civilian was killed in the sniping fire near the
Presidency's building in the Sarajevo downtown.
Four citizens were wounded in the Sarajevo suburb of Butmir
this morning when Serbs launched a mortar shell, the same source
said.
Four mortar shells landed on an area where Danish UN soldiers
are located in the city this morning as well. No information on
consequences of the shelling has been issued so far.
On Sunday two citizens were injured in the sniping fire, UN
military observers confirmed reports today.
The central city streets are still exposed to the sniping
fire, and at most of the dangerous crossroads anti-sniper
barricades have been set since yesterday in order to protect
passers-by as much as possible. The protective anti-sniper
barricades were removed from the streets in February last year
following NATO's ultimatum and the UN declaration of the Sarajevo
safe area.
