SARAJEVO, May 13 (Hina) - The UN in Sarajevo today denied the
charge of "complicity in ethnic cleansing" made yesterday by
Bosnian Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic.
Silajdzic accused UN forces of shipping 9,945 Serbs from
western Slavonia accross the Bosnian border without the knowledge
and consent of the Sarajevo government.
Ivanko confirmed that a group of 243 Serbs from western
Slavonia did arrive in northern Bosnia yesterday, but stressed that
the peace-keepers' role was limited to making it possible for men,
women and children to leave a certain area in accordance with their
wishes.
Ivanko emphatically asserted that UN had knowledge of only
this latest shipment from western Slavonia.
"All those who left western Slavonia earlier did so on their
own," Ivanko said.
