ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - The Embassy of Russian Federation in Zagreb
sent a letter to the Croatian news agency 'Hina'.
In the letter the Russian Embassy denied some statements on
the alleged presence of Russian diplomats from Belgrade in
celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of anti-Fascist victory
in Baranja and eastern Slavonia.
"On May 9, 1995, diplomats of the Russian Embassy in Zagreb
visited eastern Slavonia," the letter said.
The diplomats along with the Russian battalion's
representatives laid down a wreath at a monument to the died
soldiers of the Red Army in Ilok. On the same day on behalf of the
Russian Embassy in Croatia the Russian UN contingent officials also
laid down wreaths at the monuments in Batina and Beli Manastir.
'The Croatian side had been informed in advance of our
participation in this marking', the officials of Russian Embassy in
Zagreb said.
