OSIJEK, May 10 (Hina) - Serb paramilitary forces resumed armed
provocations this morning, firing a dozen mortar shells on
Croatian army positions southeast of Osijek, the local Croatian
army command said in a statement, adding that there were no
casualties.
"This unprovoked artillery attack by Serb terrorists on
Croatian army forces is yet another incident aimed at provoking
the Croatian army," the statement said.
The Croatian army - respecting Croatian government peace
efforts to find a negotiated solution to the problem of the
temporarily occupied areas of Baranja and eastern Croatia - did
not respond to the attack.
"If Serb terrorists do not stop terrorist incidents and if
they continue to threaten the lives of Croatian army troops in
the area, the Croatian army will be forced to respond," the
statement concluded.
