BJELANOVAC, May 3 (Hina) - The Croatian police today opened a
police station in the newly-liberated village of Bjelanovac, on the
Pakrac-Okucani road, 2 km north of the former notorious rebel Serb
stronghold of Bijela Stijena.
"The Pakrac-Bijela Stijena road has been liberated, but it is
now open only to official vehicles," Ivkanec said.
The police talked to 18 elderly citizens of Serb nationality
in the village of Donji Caglic in the presence of reporters.
Ivkanec promised them police protection and assistance.
A Catholic church in Donji Caglic was found razed to the
ground, while an Orthodox church stood intact.
Several elderly Serbs also stayed in Bjelanovac, police said.
In Radenovci, a village close to Bijela Stijena, reporters
found 28 civilians from nearby villages, both Serb and Croat. They
were under the protection of a special police squad.
