Pusic told a news conference that putting the HDZ under investigation was an act of compliance with legislation on the criminal accountability of legal entities which stipulates that a when party's leadership or former leadership is under investigation, the investigation should refer to the party as a whole.
"Preliminary inquiries have obviously shown that there are grounds for officially launching an investigation," Pusic added.
She described as an inappropriate comparison the statement by HDZ leader and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor that the opening of the investigation was possibly one of the most difficult moments for the party and the penultimate station of its Way of the Cross.
Pusic said that in this case, just as in all other legal cases, one should wait for a final judgement.
