ZAGREB, April 15 (Hina) - "It is with profound sadness that I
learnt that for the second consecutive day, a French peace-keeper
had been tragically killed by a sniper's bullet while on duty in
Sarajevo," said the UN Secretary-General's special envoy, Yasushi
Akashi in his statement.
"I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the families of these
peace-keepers, as well as to the people and the Government of
France. These deplorable incidents once again illustrate the high
price that member states of the United Nations have paid in their
efforts to bring peace to Bosnia-Herzegovina," the statement read.
"I condemn in the strongest terms, these deliberate attacks
against the United Nations peacekeepers and against the other
innocent victims of this heinous and cowardly practice. I firmly
demand that the parties responsible for these criminal acts desist
immediately, and call for those guilty of such acts to be brought
to justice," the statement concluded.
