HOUSE OF COUNTIES APPROVES GOVT REPORT ON EVICTIONS

ZAGREB, March 9 (Hina) - The House of Counties today approved, after a brief debate, the Government's Report on Administrative and Court Evictions from apartments. Housing Minister, Marina Dropulic-Matulovic, said that the Government was not incapable of resolving the issue of illegally occupied flats - it only needed to be allowed to enforce its decisions. Dropulic said that three thousand evictions had been carried out in the past four years, and another four thousand flats awaited evictions. She said the Constitutional Court was currently examining the constitutionality of Art. 94 of the 1974 Housing Act, which "placed evictions under the jurisdiction of administrative bodies."
