PAKRAC, March 7 (Hina) - Although the Serb side had suspended the
continuation of implementing the Economic Agreement, a meeting of
experts was scheduled to be held this week on continuing
preparations for reopening the Zagreb-Tovarnik railway line through
Sector West, a spokeswoman for UNPROFOR, Susan Manuel, today said
at a regular press conference in Pakrac.
After UNPROFOR checked that the railway line had been demined
inside UNPA as well, the repair works would be undertaken. The
works would cost 20 million dollars, added Manuel not saying who
would pay the costs.
The cease-fire was frequently being violated, and both sides
prepared themselves for possible conflict. However, the cease-fire
breaches were minor and presented isolated cases, and, in contrary
to other UNPA sectors, the heavy weaponry in UNPA Sector West was
still under control of UNPROFOR, she said.
Asked about the Serb population's response to the last week's
delivering of the Croatian citizenship certificates to three
residents from the occupied areas, Manuel said the Serb police in
Okucani claimed that those three men had been beaten up in Zagreb
and forced to sign the requests for the Croatian citizenship
certificates.
The men were now in the prison in Stara Gradiska (occupied
area), being accused of leaving the occupied area without
clearance.
At the Pakrac press-conference the superintendent of Bjelovar-
Bilogora Police today reiterated that all Serbs from the occupied
Croatian areas could freely come to the unoccupied areas of
Croatia.
