ZAGREB, March 2 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister, Nikica Valentic,
today received the European Trade Union Confederation Secretary
General, Emilio Gabaglia.
Commenting on the economic stabilization program, Valentic
said the conditions had been met for restructuring the economy
without causing a social breakdown.
Valentic said his government was willing to continue
cooperating with trade unions and reach a compromise in drawing up
labour legislation.
The fact that legislation regulating welfare and industrial
relations was out of touch with privatization and restructuring
processes could cause tensions, Gabaglia stressed.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of three
Croatian trade unions, ETUC members and Gabaglia's adviser, Peter
Seidenck.
