CATHOLIC BISHOPS BANNED FROM VISITNG BANJA LUKA

MOSTAR, Feb 24 (Hina/Habena) - The Serbian Government's Ministry of Spiritual Beliefs has refused to allow members of the Bishops' Conference of Bosnia-Herzegovina to visit Banja Luka. The visit was to have taken place between February 25 and March 1. Banja Luka Bishop, Franjo Komarica, yesterday informed Mostar Bishop, Ratko Peric of this news, a report from the Habena Agency said today. The visit was postponed with the explanation that 'the arrival of high Catholic Church dignitaries and the fact that a Bishops' Conference session would be held in Banja Luka, would in itself constitute a negation of the sovereignty of the Serbian Republic in Bosnia-Herzegovina." Also banned were members of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, who wanted to attend the session as guests. The Mostar Bishop informed the Holy See, the Catholic Information Centre in Mostar said, via Habena. (Hina) jn sd as 241744 MET feb 95
