SARAJEVO, Feb 9 (Hina) - Three armed assailants hijacked a UNHCR
jeep near Sarajevo yesterday, spokesman for the UN High
Commissioner for Refugees Kris Janowski said today.
Janowski told reporters in Sarajevo that the vehicle was
seized near a Serb-manned check point at Kobiljaca, on a road
between Sarajevo and Kiseljak.
Attackers in army uniform blocked the road, forced the
driver to give them the keys and then took off in an unknown
direction.
This was the tenth UNHCR vehicle to be stolen in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Janowski said. He added that only one vehicle,
seized by Serbs in the Banja Luka area, had been returned.
UN spokesman Alexander Ivanko said that a few days ago a
vehicle belonging to the UN peacekeeping force had been stolen
near the Serb stronghold of Lukavica, outside Sarajevo.
The vehicle was returned after lengthy negotiations with
local Serb authorities, Ivanko said.
