BOSNIAN FEDERATION PRESIDENT, U.N. SPECIAL ENVOY MEET IN MOSTAR

MOSTAR, Feb 8 (Hina) - Bosnian Federation president Kresimir Zubak and UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi held a meeting in Mostar today. Speaking to reporters, the pair described the talks as useful and successful. Akashi informed Zubak of his talks earlier today with leaders of Mostar's three ethnic comunities and EU administrator Hans Koschnik. Akashi stressed that all of them had agreed that the problem of Mostar should be solved within the Croat-Moslem Federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Speaking of his visit to central Bosnia, Akashi said he was impressed by the level of cooperation between Croats and Moslems in the region. The talks also focused on the humanitarian situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Zubak said the Herzeg-Bosnian Office for UNPROFOR would ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid. He pledged that problems regarding the accommodation of UN personnel in Croat-controlled areas would be solved soon. Zubak drew attention to the difficult plight of non-Serbs in the Banja Luka area, northwestern Bosnia. Akashi told me that several UN Civilian Sector officials were already in Banja Luka to help the non-Serbs there, Zubak said. (hina) jn vm 082130 MET feb 95
