ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi is to visit
today the central Bosnian towns of Gornji Vakuf, Vitez and Zenica,
UNPROFOR spokesman Paul Risley told a press conference in Zagreb.
During his tour of central Bosnia, Akashi will meet the mayor
of Vitez to discuss progress in repairs on the water supply system
and other UN activities in the area.
Akashi will spend the night in Zenica and will leave for
Mostar tomorrow to meet EU Administrator Hans Koschnik. He will
also meet the mayors of the eastern and western sectors of the
town, Risley said.
The UNPROFOR commander for Bosnia-Herzegovina, General Rupert
Smith, is to leave for Naples today to meet NATO's commander for
South Europe, Admiral Leighton Smith. They will discuss NATO's air
operations in Bosnia, Risley said.
The UNPROFOR commander for former Yugoslavia, General Bertrand
de Lapresle, is to meet senior Finish military officials in Zagreb
today. They will pay respects to a Finish UN military observer who
was killed last Friday near Gorazde, eastern Bosnia.
