MINISTER REBIC AND DANISH MP BLAK VISIT PAKRAC

PAKRAC, Feb 5 (Hina) - A Danish deputy to the European Parliament, and a member of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with southeast Europe, Freddy Blak, and a Croatian Government's minister, Adalbert Rebic, Sunday visited Pakrac, some 100 km east of Zagreb. Blak and Minister Rebic toured the town and met the mayor of the Pakrac municipality, Vladimir Delac. "West Europeans are apt to believe that negotiations are the best way to resolve the crisis in this region. We know it is easy to talk, because we have not experienced war, but without the real settlement of the situation in the region investments would be difficult to make," Blak told Pakrac aldermen. Mayor Delac informed the guests that around 250 citizens had been killed during the Serbian aggression on Pakrac and that about 100,000 various shells had fallen on the town during its one- month siege. "Our most urgent problem at the moment is money shortage for reconstruction. Eighty per cent of industrial plants have been destroyed and many houses damaged, which presents a major obstacle to the return of our citizens," Delac said. Blak and Rebic were accompanied by Danish parliamentary members and experts of a Danish non-governmental organization "European House". (hina) mms 051849 MET feb 95
