ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica
Kostovic and European Union Monitor Mission chiefs today met for
talks on humanitarian cooperation.
The outgoing chief of the EUMM operational department, Klaus
Cramer, thanked the Croatian government for cooperation and
introduced his successor, Jean-Michel Happe, who would be in
charge of humanitarian issues.
Cramer said the talks focused on the current situation in
Croatia and the EUMM's assistance in implementing the economic
agreement between the Croatian government and local Serb
authorities.
Cramer added that the normalization of the economic
situation in Croatia was in the interest of both parties. He
expressed hope that occupied areas would be reintegrated into
Croatia's adminstrative system.
Croatia's priorities in cooperation with the EUMM
humanitarian department included the protection of Croats in
occupied areas, the unobstructed movement of humanitarian aid
convoys, the peacekeeping effort and, in the event of UNPROFOR's
departure, further cooperation with the EUMM in solving
humanitarian issues, Kostovic said.
