SARAJEVO, Jan 23 (Hina) - The outgoing UN Protection Force
commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lt. Gen. Michael Rose, is
leaving Sarajevo today after the expiry of his one-year term of
office.
The UN Sarajevo headquarters said that Rose was traveling to
Zagreb this afternoon to hand over his office to his successor
Rupert Smith.
Tomorrow, Rose and Smith are to meet the UNPROFOR commander
in former Yugoslavia, Gen. Bertrand de Lapresle, and UN special
envoy Yasushi Akashi after which they would leave for Geneva to
meet UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali.
De Lapresle's successor Gen. Bernard Janvier was also
expected at the talks.
Gen. Smith is expected in Sarajevo after the Geneva meeting,
most probably on Wednesday.
