TUZLA, Dec 26 (Hina) - "The Federal arbitration commission for
Brcko is asking that Brcko belong to the Bosnian Federation,"
Deputy President of the Bosnian Federation Ejup Ganic told
reporters in Brcko on Thursday after a meeting of the commission.

Ganic argumented the request with the fact that the
Arbitration Commission was familiar with history, information about
the pre-war population structure, the economic situation and crimes
committed in the area during the war.
"The Federal Arbitration Commission is cooperating with the
Arbitration Tribunal and has so far fulfilled all obligations
required of it," Ganic said.
He added that the arbitration process on Brcko could not
influence the participation of lack of it of any side, even the
announcement of the failure of a Republika Srpska representative to
arrive at the next session of the Arbitration Commission in Vienna.
This would not stop the arbitration process and the final
decision, Ganic said, stressing that the arbitration was an
independent process and the decision of the arbiter final.
What tactics Republika Srpska would choose in the realization
of their goals was their business, Ganic said, adding that the Serb
side was bluffing with their threats to start a new war because of
Brcko.
Ganic refuted statements by the Serb side that 20 to 30,000
displaced persons from municipalities around Sarajevo lived in
Brcko, adding that there were only 1,300 Serb civilians in Brcko
who had fled from Sarajevo during the war.
