ZAGREB, 12 Dec (Hina) - The head of the Government Office for
Displaced Persons and Refugees, Damir Zoric and representatives of
three Croatian companies on Thursday signed an agreement on the
delivery of equipment for refugees who have returned to the
liberated Croatian areas in the Dalmatian hinterland.
The purchase of the equipment, which is worth US $200,000, was
financed by the Italian government. The donation, mediated by the
U.N. High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), is the last part of an
Italian government program on aid to Croatian returnees in
Dalmatia. The total value of the program amounts to US $1,2
million.
The returnees are to receive 26 tractors and 20 cultivators,
olive-tree, cherry-tree and almond-tree seedlings as well as
fertilizers. The equipment will be delivered by companies 'MIO
Osijek', 'Poljoopskrba' from Zagreb and 'CIB Trade' from Sibenik.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Italian Embassy
officials Giulio Marongi and Franco Scardia and an UNHCR
representative John Bullard.
