IFOR TROOPS PREVENT ILLEGAL EVICTION OF CROAT FAMILY IN BUGOJNO

SARAJEVO, Dec 11 (Hina) - NATO soldiers on Tuesday prevented local authorities in Bugojno (central Bosnia) to evict illegally a Croat family from its flat. A spokesman for the NATO-led IFOR in Bosnia, Bratt Boudreau, said in Sarajevo on Wednesday that they had taken the action at the request of the international police in Bosnia. NATO-led IFOR soldiers had prevented persons whom the Bugojno local authorities allowed to move into the flat, to enter the flat and throw a Croat woman and her underage daughter out of it. The IFOR commander in the area talked with the Bugojno mayor, Dzevad Mlaco, about the incident. We were organizing joint meetings which should determine measures for avoiding the repeat of such incidents, Boudreau said. He noted that IFOR troops were always ready to respond to such events, but it was necessary that international police asked for action. On Tuesday IFOR troops continued checking arms depots throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina. They found out and confiscated large amounts of banned weapons and ammunition at a Bosnian Serb police station in Brcko. IFOR soldiers also confiscated small amounts of banned weaponry and ammunition at police stations at Srbac and Busovaca. Furthermore, 100 pieces of arms, hand grenades and 20 kilograms of explosive were confiscated at a police station at Bosanski Petrovac. (hina) mš 111432 MET dec 96
