and Mostar, and attempted to inspect the vehicle and its passengers. IFOR members had no right to do this and their request had been refused, Delic told the Sarajevo television. Delic and his associates asked for an intervention from the IFOR main headquarters, but their request was left unanswered.

After a 45-minute wait, Delic and associates tried to pass
through IFOR's blockade without the consent of the surrounding
soldiers.
The French troops then began thumping the vehicle and broke a
rear-view mirror.
During the besiege, IFOR troops held their weapons pointing at
Delic and, as Delic said, heavy machine guns from three armoured
personnel carriers had been turned towards the vehicle.
The Sarajevo-based IFOR headquarters confirmed later Thursday
evening that the incident had in fact taken place, and General
William Crouch forwarded his personal appologies to General Delic.
