In a statement issued on Tuesday, Fischer expressed regret
over the latest violations of human rights in Europe, in Council of
Europe member-states as well as in those countries which are not
its members.
Fischer asked from Croatia, which recently joined the Council
of Europe, to fully respect all commitments it had taken over,
including freedom of the media, the statement said.
She also expressed hope that European countries which are not
Council of Europe's members - such as White Russia and the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia - would soon change their policy and accept
values of democracy and human rights.
