TUZLA, Nov 26 (Hina) - UN human rights envoy Elizabeth Rehn was in
the northeastern Bosnian town of Tuzla on Tuesday where she visited
the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Pathology which is
conducting the identification of victims recovered from mass graves
in the Srebrenica area of eastern Bosnia.
Srebrenica had been one of six UN protected areas which was
overrun by Bosnian Serb forces in the summer of 1995. About 6,000
mainly Moslem men went missing and were feared slaughtered.
Rehn said that she was satisfied with the professionalism of
the local team and its cooperation with experts from Finland.
Rehn expressed regrets that she had not brought any financial
aid or equipment necessary for identification procedures.
