BUDAPEST, Nov 17 (Hina) - An exhibition of paintings made by straws
was opened in Budapest by Croatia's Ambassador to Hungary, Zdenko
Skrabalo.
The technique for creating paintings by straws is
characteristic only for Bunjevci-Croats who live around the town of
Subotica, Vojvodina.
At Saturday night's ceremony, Ambassador Skrabalo said he was
happy to be able, as a representative of the free and independent
Croatian state, to open the first exhibition of those paintings in
Budapest.
Croatian folk groups and ensembles from Croatia, Hungary and
Yugoslavia, performed a cultural programme at the Budapest area of
Kobany after the opening of the exhibition.
The event was organized by the Hungarian ethnic Croatian
association and the Croatian Embassy in Budapest.
