ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - "President Tudjman feels excellent," his
personal physician Branimir Jaksic, M.D. stated in a phone
interview with Croatian TV, released in the prime-time news show on
Saturday.
President Tudjman is staying at the US military hospital
"Walter Reed" in Washington, DC for additional medical
examinations.
"The President has had a gastric upset and has undergone a
medical examination in Zagreb. He has also undergone a consultative
examination at the Walter Reed medical centre. The exam has shown
that the trouble was caused by a gastric ulcer. The condition is
responding well to the treatment," Jaksic said.
"Meanwhile, the exam has revealed enlarged abdominal lymph
nodes. However, this condition is not causing any trouble and does
not require any therapy except occasional monitoring," he said.
Noting that he was in permanent contact with the President,
Jaksic stressed that the President was performing all his usual
duties, dismissing speculations that his condition diminished the
President's ability for work, as unfounded.
"It is certainly not a condition that will require a
prolonged absence from work in the following months," Jaksic said.
"Control check-ups over the next months and years will show
whether a treatment of the lymph nodes is indicated. The President
will return to Zagreb, to the Presidential Palace, by the end of
next week. I am sure that the nation will be glad to hear that he
has invited all his regular partners to a tennis match on Sunday,
at the usual hour," Jaksic concluded.
