ZAGREB, Nov 12 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Davor Stern met
in Zagreb on Tuesday with US Assistant Secretary of Commerce
William Ginsberg, the Economy Ministry said in a statement.
Ginsberg agreed with Stern that the United States and
Croatia should strengthen economic cooperation.
Ginsberg said that US companies were interested in
investing in Croatia, which they found the most interesting country
for potential investors after the Czech Republic and Poland.
Investment in Croatia and support to its efforts to join
the World Trade Organization was part of the official US business
strategy towards Croatia, he added.
The talks focused on US investment in energy projects, a
possible joint venture of the INA and Texaco oil companies, and
investment in tourism and road construction.
In the evening, Ginsberg travelled to the southern Adriatic
resort town of Dubrovnik to visit the site of a plane crash in
which Commerce Secretary Ron Brown had been killed in April this
year.
Ginsberg was scheduled to meet Dubrovnik authorities for
talks on investment in the tourist industry.
