The police officer was wounded in a fire exchange between
Bosnian Serbs and Bosniac refugees who tried to enter the Bosnian
Serb entity this morning.
The IPTF member, whose name has not been publicized yet, was
transported to Tuzla and his life is not in danger.
According to latest reports, despite this morning's shooting
incident, a group of some 500 Bosniacs did not give up their plan
to visit their homes in the village of Gajevi near Koraj, northern
Bosnia.
The refugees are holding talks with UNHCR representatives
about their visit. Meanwhile, IFOR members were sent to the area to
calm the situation.
IPTF deputy commissioner Bob Wasserman left for Tuzla during
the day as well.
Sarajevo radio and television have not broadcast any reports
on the latest incidents in northern Bosnia.
