According to the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare,
Vera Babic, the Government did not accept the trade unions'
proposal that the basic salary be raised to 1,100 kunas.
'The Government, as well as the employers, hold that there is
no need to establish the amount of the lowest basic salary, since
it can be done by collective agreements', Babic said, adding the
Government did not want to have the role of the administrator of
salary policy.
The talks between government and trade unions' representatives
will continue on Monday, 11 November.
