Stressing that a membership in the Council of Europe was not a
privilege, but a lasting responsibility, the statement said that
the standards of the Council of Europe were Croatian standards as
of today.
"That is why we expect of everyone, of those in authority and
opposition, as well as of those in non-government institutions, to
give their everyday and effective contribution to fulfilling those
commitments which have been taken up by Croatia, via its
democratically elected representatives, by its accession into the
Council of Europe," the statement said.
