GRANIC COMMENTS ON LATEST E.U. DOCUMENT ON EX-YUGOSLAVIA

ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - A document by the European Union Ministerial Council on policy towards the countries of former Yugoslavia is not entirely favourable to Croatia but it is much "softer" than all drafts of that document, Foreign Minister Mate Granic said in a Croatian television current affairs programme late Tuesday night. Granic emphasized that Croatia was a Central European and Mediterranean country which wanted to be integrated into Europe and Euro-Atlantic institutions. He went on to say that "we want to share responsibility for the peace process in Bosnia-Herzegovina." "It is vital that the process of peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube river area be completed as soon as possible because it is the most important prerequisite for integration into Europe," Granic stressed. "We want to develop good relations with all countries of South-Eastern Europe and normalize our relations with Belgrade exclusively on the basis of interests," Granic said.
