The visit was organized on the occasion of the day of St John
Kapistran - the protector saint of Ilok. The two bishops conducted
a mass in the local church, after which they met Marko Malovic, the
only Roman Catholic priest in eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western
Srijem.
The visit was organized at Bishop Kos' request. Kos
previously sent a letter to U.N. Transitional Administrator Jacques
Klein saying that the visit was not of political but religious
