JOSE CARRERAS CONCERT IN ZAGREB A GREAT SUCCESS - ORGANIZERS

ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - Last month's charity concert which featured international opera stars Jose Carreras and Cecilia Gasdia was a great financial success, organizers told a news conference in Zagreb on Monday. The proceeds of the concert, intended for the Children's Clinic in Zagreb and the international fund for prevention of leukemia "Jose Carreras", totalled 1.991 million kuna (about DM 569,000). Of this amount 1.044 million kuna (DM 298,000) was provided in cash, 437,720 kuna (DM 124,000) in equipment and medicines, and 509,150 kuna (DM 147,000) in services. The Children's Clinic has used part of the funds to purchase a surgical laser worth 374,416 kuna (DM 105,000) and medical equipment and medicines worth 437,720 kuna (DM 124,000). The Jose Carreras Fund has granted 100,000 kuna (DM 28,000) to the Croatian Association for Lymphomata and Leukemia, while the rest of 66,790 kuna (DM 19,000) has not been allocated yet.
