SARAJEVO, Sept 20 (Hina) - The establishment of new federal bodies
of authority was insufficiently discussed after the elections,
Bosnian Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic told a press conference in
Sarajevo on Friday. He pointed out that it was necessary to call a
session of the federal parliament which would elect the president
and the co-president of the Federation, as well as the new
government.
"It's necessary to call a session of cantonal assemblies
because they elect representatives for the Federation's House of
Peoples, which is the basic message that we want to get across",
Prlic said.
Also present at the press conference was international
mediator for the Federation Christian Schwartz-Schilling, who today
met with Bosnia's highest officials. He said that the Bosnian 14
September elections were satisfactory and that "Bosnia-Herzegovina
won't exist as a state unless the Federation functions. Therefore,
we must make sure that it becomes effective as soon as possible".
He also pointed out that it was equally important to make good
preparations for the municipal elections. Authorities in the Serb
entity would have to change a lot so that in that part of Bosnia-
Herzegovina these elections could be free and democratic, Schwartz-
Schilling concluded.
