ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - Association of Croatian Independent Unions (SSSH) is next week to stage a large protest rally in order to force the government to at last begin negotiations on the unions' requests. #L# The SSSH will reiterate its requests to the government to annul the decision on freezing wages, to increase the non-taxable part of income from 700 to 1,100 kunas and the terminal wage to be freed from taxes, to introduce seven tax categories with the lowest tax rate of 10 percent. They also requested the policy of employment to be changed, that is, that the government urgently stop the wave of dismissals from jobs, the SSSH said at Tuesday's news conference. SSSH president Davor Juric expressed his view that instead of the current 260,000 people, there would be 300,000 people registered at the employment office by the end of the year. Some 100,000 employees did not receive wages or they received them irregularly, Juric said. According to the latest statistics, only 650,000 persons were employed in production which had plummeted to 56.4 percent of the production realized in 1990. Juric said the statement that this year's increase in production had amounted to seven percent was untrue, because, according to unions' information, this year's production was at last year's level and could have risen only one percent.
