The ZPH delegation complained about the state authorities'
neglect of the problems of displaced people.
'The only ones who care for us are the directors of hotels in
which we live, while the institutions in charge of us have
distanced themselves', ZPH president for the Zagreb County, Julije
Skeledzic said.
Unemployed displaced persons have not received their monthly
allowance of 270 kunas (75 DEM) for months and the persons who
provided accommodation for the displaced have not received 150
kunas (42 DEM) since May, because there are no means in the budget
for those allowances, Skeledzic said. 'We cannot believe that the
Government, after four years, has not calculated the amount of
those assets and set them aside', Skeledzic said.
Not a single displaced person had managed to get a loan,
although they were very interested in that, the ZPH representatives
said. 'There is no money for us and the Serbs in eastern Slavonia
are receiving salaries and pension allowances, even in German
marks', the ZPH delegates protested, adding they were also
dissatisfied with the announcement of general amnesty for Croatian
Serb rebels.
