Warsaw, 10 September (Hina) - President of the Croatian
Parliament Vlatko Pavletic talked on Tuesday in Warsaw with his
Polish counterpart Jozef Zycha. Academician Pavletić, arrived to
Poland on Monday, on a several day long visit initiated by the
President of the Polish Parliament Jozef Zycha.
After the talks, President of the Sejm stressed that the
Republic of Poland had confirmed its readiness to support
Croatia's bid for membership in common European mechanisms, such
as the Council of Europe and Partnership for Peace. Jozef Zycha
also expressed commitment to further development of economic and
cultural cooperation between Poland and Croatia.
Academician Pavletic pointed to striking similarities
between histories of the Polish and the Croatian peoples and
between their political systems. He noted that the two countries
had already ratified a significant number of bilateral agreements
and that they are presently working on some important agreements.
Committees of the two parliaments will also discuss problems
stemming from transition and privatization processes and
transformation of ownership, so that they could profit from each
others experiences and avoid mistakes such as those that have
already been made in both countries.
