MOSTAR, Aug 29 (Hina) - Head of the Office for Cooperation with the
NATO-led Peace Implementation Force (IFOR) and International
Organizations of the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, Slobodan
Bozic, on Thursday talked with the commander of IFOR's French
multinational division General Xavier de Lambert.
The talks focused on incidents relating to the withdrawal of
arms from the Croatian Defense Council's store in Doljani and the
inspection of civilian vehicles, along soldiers and military
vehicles, at IFOR's check-points along roads around Mostar.
Regarding the incident at Doljani, de Lambert said it was a
mistake made by IFOR, after which the arms had been returned, and
the culprits punished.
The issue of IFOR's check-points was very complex, de Lambert
and Bozic agreed, adding that, in accordance with the Dayton
Agreement, in such situations, only soldiers and military vehicles
should be inspected to prevent non-permitted carrying of arms.
Bozic and de Lambert also discussed IFOR's engagement during
Bosnian September elections, when their units would cooperate with
the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe and local
authorities in undertaking additional measures and actions in order
to ensure full freedom of movement and the regularity of the
elections, Bozic's office concluded.
