The elections results had to be respected, Bildt said in a
statement.
The EU would begin to withdraw, but making concessions as
regarded election results would have much worse consequences for
the future, the statement said.
He stressed that the final diplomatic effort could only pose
additional pressure on Zagreb, as well as Bosnian Croats in order
to ensure full respect of the results of the elections.
The failure of such an effort would influence overall
relations between Croatia and the rest of the world, Bildt warned.
