SARAJEVO, August 1 (Hina) - The U.S. administration fully supported
the stances of Bildt's Office and the countries of the European
Union in relation to the solution of the Mostar crisis, spokesman
for the International Peace Coordinator Carl Bildt's Office, Colum
Murphy, told a press conference in Sarajevo on Thursday.
Murphy said the basis for the solution were the results of the
June elections. "To respect them is the basis for the September
elections to have any sense", Murphy said.
He confirmed that the whole international community was firm
not to allow the existence of any power vacuum in Mostar and that
certain measures had already been undertaken in this respect.
"The implementation forces will see to it that no military
activity jeopardizes peace neither in Bosnia-Herzegovina nor in
Mostar and we are ready to undertake necessary measures", spokesman
for the NATO-led Peace Implementation Force Bratt Boudreau said.
U.N. spokesman Patrick Swenson confirmed that a regional
international police force headquarters with 50 people had already
been established within the Mostar blue zone.
150 policemen of the West-European Union had been situated
there before, Swenson said, stressing that the presence of the
international police would certainly be strengthened once the
necessary decision for it was brought.
Murphy warned that no one would be allowed to walk armed
around Mostar.
