MOSTAR, Aug 1 (Hina) - Aide to the U.S. State Secretary John

of Mostar, Mijo Brajkovic and Safet Orucevic, respectively. #L#
He stressed the United States stance that the Bosnian
Federation and a joint administration in Mostar should be
established.
The election results should be the basis for forming municipal
authorities in Mostar, Kornblum said.
He described talks with both Mostar mayors as good, stressing
that both sides had advocated that the European Union
Administration should remain in Mostar.
Kornblum is to hold talks with Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman in Washington on Thursday.
The presence of John Kornblum in Mostar conveyed the United
States' support for resolving the problems in Mostar, Garrod said,
adding that the decisions that should be reached by the end of this
week were of great importance.
Brajkovic, Mayor of the western (Croat-held) part of Mostar,
cited a suggestion that the Croat side had given for the resolution
of the situation in Mostar.
"We suggested that each side should give 16 representatives
into the city council, without the five others, for starters, until
the city electoral committee pronounces the elections as valid.
Also, a mayor should be chosen and the Croat side gives full
support to Garrod," Brajkovic said, adding that the elections in
Mostar should be held in September, at the same time as those in
all municipalities on the Federation level.
Before the talks, Orucevic said that he believed that intense
pressure on the Croat side would help in resolving the Mostar
issue.
As long as there was a Herzeg Bosnia, Mostar would be a
divided city, Orucevic said.
