SISAK, Aug 1 (Hina) - Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Shunji Yanai
and his associates on Thursday visited a refugee centre in Mala
Gorica near Petrinja, whose construction had been financed by the
Japanese Government.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yanai was accompanied by Croatian
Ambassador to Japan Andjelko Simic and Foreign Ministry officials.
Yanai also visited Sisak and met Deputy County Prefect Ivan
Kostecki and several aldermen.
The Mala Gorica refugee centre houses 660 refugees from the
Croatian Danubian area and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Its construction was
financed by the Japanese Government at Yanai's initiative.
During a reception at the refugee centre, Yanai and Simic
planted friendship trees.
