VINKOVCI, Jul 25 (Hina) - Croatian refugees from eastern Slavonia
on Thursday held a panel in a refugee centre near Vinkovci, where
they are housed.
The panel was attended by Marko Kvesic of the Government
Office for the establishment of Croatian authority in the Danubian
area and UNTAES representatives.
"Our exile has lasted for five years and we have been very
patient. Now the time has come for us to return," the mayor of
occupied Ilok, Stipan Kraljevic, said.
"We demand that Serbs vacate our houses in Ilok and nearby
villages so that we can return," he said.
In the past month, Serbs have stepped up their mine-planting,
looting and torching activities in Croatian villages, worried
refugees said.
UNTAES representatives said such incidents were being
investigated.
