Participants at the round table were Defence Minister Gojko
Susak, Economy Minister Davor Stern, Emigration Minister Marijan
Petrovic, Education and Sports Minister Ljilja Vokic, Vice Premier
Borislav Skegro, Privatization Fund President Milan Kovac, the
President of Croatian Television and Radio, Ivica Mudrinic, and the
head of the Society of Croatian Emigrants, Ante Beljo.
The government would do all it can to provide conditions for
an easier return of Croatian emigrants, Vice Premier Skegro said.
Education and Sports Minister Ljilja Vokic said that some
17,000 pupils from diaspora had been registered with the Ministry
and that some 30,000 pupils could be integrated into regular
classes.
Economy Minister Stern informed participants of the meeting
about the main guidelines of the Croatian economy. The Croatian
economy had consolidated its resources and stabilized after the
war; new activities aimed at the revival of Croatia's economy could
be expected now, Stern said.
Participants at the round table wanted to know about the
status of Croatian emigrants in different countries. Asked how many
unemployed there were in Croatia, Vice Premier Skegro said that
some 245,000 people were without job in Croatia currently.
The third convention will continue its session tomorrow.
